First time I met this design was many many years ago, when I, after finishing High School, went to live in Canada for nearly half a year.
I don't remember the second hand book shop in which I found it (must have been somewhere in Barrie, Ontario). But I vividly remember holding this book in my hand. And I remember the impact the front cover had on me.
So I bought the book (Can$: 1,75), knowing I probably wouldn't be able to understand much of it without massive assistance from a dictionary. Really, I reckon, I bought the cover.
For a long time I didn't know. I just took the book from the shelf once in a while, savouring the image.
Years later, I learned about this designer called Milton Glaser, about his profound design work, and learned that he made a whole series of these gorgies; The Signet Classics.
Recently another title came my way. I solemnly believe I have started a collection!
Perhaps, with time, more books will join.
Until then, I will continue taking these two down from the shelf once in a while, and read. The covers.
The impact: Still massive!

Another, contemporary, illustrator who reminds me a little of this great style is Daniel Egnéus.
His Little Red Riding Hood is on my wish list.

Gursky (again)
Couldn't resist. Knowing that the Gursky exhibition was about to end, I hurried to Louisiana once more to savor his awesome photographs, to watch the videos and just take it all in. Again.
I didn't take any pictures of his. You will have to see them here, and watch the film (where his photoshop assistant works magic)!
Instead I took a few filtered snapshots of the museum surroundings. Gotta love the museum surroundings!
...
No museum visit without a visit to the museum shop. And in this category, the Louisiana Museum Shop is in a league of its own. I could move in there! Everything there is just stylish, beautiful, classy. I would, you know. Move in there should they ask me to. No one has yet, though...
In the book shop I found this:

...aaarrggghh, the waffle texture! The BITE! A vanilla and a chocolatty version ...
I think I forgot to breathe for a while.
Let's just say it's on my wish list.

Here I Am (relaxed)
I have a really wonderful friend whom I speak with almost daily. She's an incredibly wise person, warm, and we laugh a lot. And talk shop too. Two weeks ago I was looking into a couple of weeks of workload of considerable proportion, she said to me: »Think of it as a business trip«, and I did.
We've been joking about it many times during my »absence«, and Wednesday, when I sat on the airplane (aka my bike) going home from work having met all my deadlines, she said to me that it was okay for me to relax now ...
It has taken me a couple of days to land (I'll stop with the figurative speak now ;o), but I believe I'm there now. Aaahh ... my yarn, my couch'n blankie and a cuppa tea. That's quite enough for today.
I hope you are enjoying Saturday too :)

More work. More progress ...
These photos are a little sneak-peak from an article I am working on for Danish lifestyle magazine Isabellas. The whole article will be featured in an issue later this Summer :-)
I've also been playing with some video how-to for this project. Can't wait to share :-)

Work In Progress
I'm working on a project these days (and nights!) that I can't really say that much about yet.
But it has me happily scrapping away, every chance I get. And fortunately I'll be able to share it soon. Ish.

Handmade Chirp-Chirp
A wee bit on the heavy side ;o) partly due to not following the yarn instruction. Used my own wooly scraps instead.
The pattern for this Titmouse is from the book 75 birds, butterflies & beautiful beasties to knit & crochet (ahem—the one in the book is cotton, and looks more normal Titmousy-weight)
I found another puurdy little one on Pinterest, made by Agnieszka Nowak (crocheted)
+Really cool beehive also from Agnieszka Nowak

Chirp-Chirp
Not too long ago we hung this little devise on the balcony. A chicken wire »tube« stuffed with natural, unbleached felting wool. For the birds' nests. I didn't have any expectations as to how fast, or if, even, they'd find it ...
but the next day, surely, there it was, a little Titmouse, plucking away at the wool.Needless to say, I was totally mesmerized by this little creature, I even got so keep on catching her on camera, I got in half an hour later for work! Thank goodness, I'm my own boss! ;o)
She's been around every day since. The tube is almost empty now. We'll have to fill er up :-)
...
Up in a tree, in a nest somewhere, little Titmice come into the world in our wool. I shan't ever ask for more...

New Easter post at Clemmensen&Brok & DIYs
Yello! And Happy Easter :-) I still have a little work to do, but after tomorrow it's Goodbye office, and Hello couch!
I have my book, a rather large order of Coffee Owls waiting, + a knitting project, should I be needing' a such.
Whatta you up to?
On another Eastery note, Tina shot an amazing series of Rustic Easter foods and table setting for Clemmensen&Brok. I chipped in with ink, a DIY watercolor/ink background for making name cards, and these knitted Easter chicks for decoration.
The Three Little Chicks (recipe below) are made from scraps of yarn and glass beads. They are very easy and fast to knit. The paper they are sitting on is made for the egg-shaped name cards below. First watercolored, then drizzled with indian ink, to imitate shell of quail eggs. Cut out rustically in egg shapes and write the names of your guests. Or put the (dried!) watercolor paper in the printer and print the names, using your favorite typeface. Cut in egg shapes.
Have a wonderful Easter, guys :-)

Easter Cutting at Bakkehus Museum
Last Saturday we spend the whole day cutting Easter mobiles from old templets at The Bakkehus Museum.
In the early 19th century Bakkehuset (House on the Hill) was the home of Kamma and Knud Lyne Rahbek and a cultural meeting place for the authors, scientists and artists of the time; H. C. Andersen, H. C. Ørsted, B.S. Ingemann, N.F.S. Grundtvig, Johan Ludvig Heiberg, Steen Steensen Blicher and many others came here to discuss literature, science and art with like-minded people.
The house exudes warmth, creativity and broad-mindedness. And the cut-out event was a hoot!

Emphera Lucky Bags
I am planning to offer a variety of little emphera bags for collage making for sale soon. Each bag contains different materials like old original book pages, picture lottery pieces, ribbons, stamps, playing cards and such. Each one different, each one made with love.
♪ Fabulously funky Lukas Graham. Love his sound. Love that his concerts sold out in mere minutes.
